Former Baseball Star Johnny Damon Arrested

On Friday, February 19, 2021, retired Major League Baseball player and Windermere, Florida resident Johnny Damon was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of DUI.

Damon Allegedly Blew Four Times the Legal Limit

Windermere police arrested Johnny Damon for drunk driving and arrested his wife Michelle Mangan-Damon for battery on an officer early Friday morning following a traffic stop. Police noted in their report that they informed him the breath alcohol test performed on him revealed he was nearly 4 times the legal limit. The legal limit in Florida and in Indiana are both .08.  Records show Damon blew a 0.300 and .294. Blowing such a high BAC on the breathalyzer could subject the former athlete to DUI felony charges in some states. The breathalyzer and Field Sobriety Test was performed after the former Red Sox and Yankees star was pulled over for driving erratically through the streets of Windermere, FL

Officers also reported Damon “was extremely unsteady on his feet and his speech was extremely slurred.” Damon informed police he’d been at the London House, a private club, and had “just a little bit” to drink.
